People stand in front of a departure board after a cyber attack caused delays at Brussels International Airport in Zaventem, Belgium, Saturday.

Several major European airports, including London Heathrow, Berlin Brandenburg and Brussels, experienced flight delays and cancellations on 20 September after a cyber attack targeted Collins Aerospace, the provider of check-in and boarding systems. Heathrow advised passengers to verify flight details and avoid early arrivals, while British Airways reported no disruption thanks to a backup system. Gatwick and Luton were unaffected.

Brussels Airport confirmed around 10 cancellations and 15 delays by mid-morning, with staff forced to manually process check-ins and luggage. Berlin Airport reported extended waiting times.

Collins Aerospace owner RTX stated the disruption affected its MUSE software and is limited to electronic check-in and baggage systems, which can be managed manually. The company is working to restore full service. This follows a previous 2023 cyber incident affecting staff data.
