According to the Iraqi oil ministry, flows through the Kirkuk–Ceyhan pipeline resumed smoothly on Saturday at 6am local time. The deal was reached between Baghdad, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and international oil companies, with support from the United States.

Key details:
• Initial exports: 180,000–190,000 barrels per day (bpd) to Türkiye’s Ceyhan port
• Target: up to 230,000 bpd in coming months
• Companies to receive $16 per barrel for production and transport costs
• Outstanding $1bn debt to oil firms under review

The restart is seen as a step towards easing tensions between Baghdad and Erbil, while also boosting Iraq’s oil revenues.

Meanwhile, Türkiye signed a 20-year LNG deal with US firm Mercuria, reflecting Ankara’s push to diversify energy sources beyond Russia.
