Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to a 48-hour “temporary ceasefire”, following days of deadly clashes along their shared frontier that killed over a dozen civilians. The truce began at 13:00 GMT on Wednesday (Oct. 15), according to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.

• The ceasefire aims to reduce tensions after airstrikes and ground fighting erupted earlier this week.
• Islamabad said both sides will engage in “constructive dialogue” to find a “positive solution” to the border crisis.
• The agreement was reached at Kabul’s request, according to Pakistan.
• However, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the ceasefire was made “at the insistence of the Pakistani side”.
