In an interview on GB News’s US programme The Late Show Live, US President Donald Trump criticised the UK’s current energy policy, arguing that the North Sea remains one of the world’s most valuable energy fields but claimed that UK taxation and regulation discourage major companies from investing.
Trump contrasted this with the growth of wind power across the UK, describing it as expensive, intermittent, and economically unsustainable. He said the country was “destroying” its landscapes with turbines and undermining energy security by limiting domestic oil production.
He also reiterated his long-standing belief that climate change is a “hoax”, criticising the UK for supporting what he characterised as misguided environmental priorities in 2025.
