The United Nations has warned that escalating violence in Sudan is sharply worsening humanitarian conditions, particularly for civilians in the Kordofan region and North Darfur.
In a statement, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the situation in the besieged towns of Dilling and Kadugli in South Kordofan State is “continuing to deteriorate”, with communities increasingly cut off from supplies.
“In South Kordofan State, the humanitarian situation in the besieged towns of Dilling and Kadugli has continued to deteriorate, with both locations increasingly cut off, supplies rapidly dwindling and prices of food and other essentials spiralling,” it said.

• Fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has continued since April 2023.
• Tens of thousands have fled recent clashes across North, West, and South Kordofan.
• The RSF controls most of Darfur, while the army holds much of the rest of the country, including Khartoum.
