Colombia has launched a $1.68bn anti-drone shield aimed at countering attacks by unmanned aerial systems used by armed groups, according to Defense Minister Pedro Sanchez.
Speaking in a video statement, Sanchez said the programme represents a major step in national security and defence planning. The government has approved $271.1m for the first phase, with consultations already held in Bogotá with interested countries and companies.
“Colombia is embarking on one of the boldest and most innovative strategies for our national security and defense,” Defense Minister Pedro Sanchez said in a video statement.
