Greece will expand defence cooperation with Israel, focusing on anti-drone systems and cybersecurity, following talks in Athens between Nikos Dendias and Israel Katz.

Dendias said the two sides agreed to exchange expertise to counter drone swarms, including unmanned aerial and subsea vehicles, and to strengthen readiness against cyber threats.

The discussions build on close bilateral ties between Greece and Israel, which already cooperate through a Greek-based air training centre and regular joint military exercises.

Key developments

• Greece approved the purchase of 36 Israeli-made PULS rocket artillery systems for around €650m.

• Talks continue on a multi-layer air, missile and drone defence system, estimated at €3bn.

• Katz said both countries oppose destabilising actors operating via terrorism, aggression or proxies in regions including Syria, Gaza and the Aegean.

Neither minister named specific adversaries, though both countries view Türkiye as a significant regional security concern.
