In a conversation with Laurence D. Fink, Chair and CEO of BlackRock, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told the World Economic Forum in Davos that artificial intelligence and robotics could trigger an unprecedented expansion of the global economy, while fundamentally reshaping work and human purpose.

Musk argued that widespread, low-cost AI and robotics are essential to achieving global abundance. He said future economic output would be driven by the scale and productivity of intelligent machines.

Musk predicted AI could exceed individual human intelligence by the end of 2026 and surpass collective human intelligence within five years. He added that Tesla aims to deploy Optimus humanoid robots in factories this year, with more advanced industrial roles to follow, while stressing the need for careful oversight as the technology advances.
