The Trump administration has outlined a vision to rebuild Gaza, describing what it called “significant investment opportunities” during remarks at an event marking the launch of Trump’s “Board of Peace” in Davos.
Presenting computer-generated images of a proposed “New Gaza”, Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump and a key figure in the Trump administration’s foreign policy negotiations, said the southern city of Rafah could be rebuilt within two to three years through a phased reconstruction plan. He said Hamas has agreed to demilitarise, adding that enforcement of the agreement would underpin future investment and security.
Kushner acknowledged the scale of destruction, citing 90,000 tonnes of munitions dropped during the war and an estimated 60 million tonnes of rubble across Gaza. He said clearance work had already begun in some areas.
The proposal includes major investment in utilities, commercial zones and vocational training, though Kushner gave no details on funding sources. He said further financial commitments could be announced at a conference in Washington, stressing that security and disarmament are essential to rebuilding Gaza’s economy.
