China’s President Xi Jinping told Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo that Beijing is ready to work with Helsinki to uphold a UN-centred international system and advance a multipolar order, according to China’s state news agency. Xi said he hoped Finland would play a constructive role in supporting stable China–EU relations.
Orpo’s visit comes amid European efforts to diversify foreign partnerships following volatility in US foreign policy, and growing focus on Arctic security after debates at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
