The United States has proposed a June 2026 deadline for Ukraine and Russia to reach a peace agreement to end the nearly four-year war, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The proposal forms part of ongoing US-brokered diplomatic efforts, with trilateral talks expected to take place in the United States, potentially in Miami.

“The Americans are proposing the parties end the war by the beginning of this summer and will probably put pressure on the parties precisely according to this schedule,” Zelenskyy said, speaking to reporters on Friday. Zelenskyy’s comments were embargoed until Saturday morning.

“And they say that they want to do everything by June. And they will do everything to end the war. And they want a clear schedule of all events,” he said.

Meanwhile, Russia has reportedly presented Washington with a $12 trillion economic framework, referred to by Zelenskyy as the “Dmitriev package”, linked to broader peace negotiations.

Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have intensified, disrupting national power supplies and forcing nuclear plants to reduce output.

Talks remain stalled over Donbas territorial control and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.
