Somalia and Saudi Arabia have signed a defence and military cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral security ties and supporting regional stability.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in Riyadh by Somali Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi and Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman. The agreement covers multiple areas of defence collaboration and shared strategic interests.

The partnership is expected to enhance cooperation on Red Sea security, a critical maritime corridor for global trade and regional security. The deal also reflects deepening diplomatic relations between Mogadishu and Riyadh.

Somalia is seeking expanded technical assistance and military equipment from allied countries to reinforce its territorial integrity and protect its airspace.
