The US Central Command said it struck more than 30 Islamic State targets in Syria in early February 2026, following an ambush that killed two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter.

The strikes targeted weapons storage sites and logistical infrastructure, using precision munitions delivered by fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and drones. Officials said the operation aims to sustain “relentless military pressure” on remaining IS networks.

Key developments:

• Ten strikes conducted between 3 February and mid-February 2026.

• Followed five earlier strikes between 27 January and 2 February.

• Operation launched after IS fighters attacked US and Syrian forces in Palmyra.

• Over 50 militants killed or captured and more than 100 targets hit in two months.

• Thousands of IS detainees transferred to Iraq, now held in Al-Karkh Central Prison.

• Al-Tanf military base transferred to Syrian control.
