Hundreds of thousands joined demonstrations worldwide on Saturday (14 February) against the Iranian government, following a call for a “global day of action” by Reza Pahlavi, exiled son of the late Shah.

Speaking in Munich to an estimated 250,000 people, Pahlavi criticised Iran’s crackdown on domestic protests and urged solidarity with citizens inside the country.

Large rallies occurred in Munich, Los Angeles, and Toronto, with smaller events in Tel Aviv, Lisbon, Sydney, and London.

Key developments:

• Protests in Iran began on 28 December over economic hardship, spreading to over 100 cities and towns.

• HRANA reports 6,872 deaths, Iranian authorities confirm at least 3,000.

• Noor Pahlavi addressed Los Angeles protesters, calling on US President Donald Trump to halt nuclear negotiations with Iran.

• Many Iranian demonstrators chant Pahlavi’s name, signalling support for his potential leadership.
