Dutch King Willem-Alexander has formally sworn in a new minority coalition government led by Rob Jetten, the Netherlands’ youngest-ever prime minister, at the Huis ten Bosch Royal Palace in The Hague. The king wished the government success “in uncertain times.”

The coalition, formed after 117 days of negotiations, unites D66 (Democrats 66), the Christian Democrats, and the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). Holding only 66 of 150 lower house seats, the government will need to negotiate with opposition parties on each legislative proposal.

Key priorities for Prime Minister Jetten include:

• Expanding green energy initiatives to lower energy costs

• Tackling the housing crisis with 10 new towns and 100,000 homes annually

• Strengthening healthcare by focusing on illness prevention

• Reforming migration and integration policies, including allowing asylum claims from outside the EU
