Protests at leading universities across Iran have entered a third day, with clashes reported between anti-government and pro-regime students in Tehran, Mashhad and Isfahan.

Footage from Al-Zahra University showed students burning the Iranian flag and chanting slogans referencing the return of the Pahlavi dynasty. Demonstrators also held images of those killed during last month’s crackdown.

The unrest comes as the US prepares for new round of nuclear talks with Tehran in Geneva on Thursday (26 February), with President Donald Trump warning Iran it has a “maximum” of 15 days to reach a deal or face consequences.

Key developments:

• Human rights group HRANA says at least 7,000 people were killed last month; authorities report over 3,000.

• Students at Isfahan University of Technology chanted against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

• Sharif University of Technology head Masoud Tajrishi warned of possible judiciary intervention.

• Army chief Amir Hatami rejected claims Iran is negotiating from weakness.
