Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has cautioned that any conflict with the United States could quickly escalate into a “devastating” regional war involving multiple Middle Eastern countries.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Araghchi emphasised Tehran’s preparedness for both war and diplomacy, while reaffirming Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear technology.

Araghchi warned: “There would be no victory for anybody. It would be a devastating war… perhaps the whole region would be engaged and involved.” He stressed that Iran is “fully prepared for both options: war, God forbid, and peace,” and reaffirmed that while the country is ready to address concerns, it will “not give up our right for peaceful use of nuclear technology.” He described the ongoing negotiations as “a historic opportunity to strike an unprecedented agreement that addresses mutual concerns and achieves mutual interests.”

Key developments:
• US and Iranian officials are meeting in Geneva for the third round of indirect talks, mediated by Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi

• The United States has deployed additional troops and military assets to the Middle East amid heightened tensions with Iran.

• Iran insists its nuclear programme remains peaceful and has rejected US demands to halt uranium enrichment.

Negotiations continue under global scrutiny as both sides weigh diplomacy against the risk of military escalation.
