Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India held bilateral talks with President Alexander Stubb of Finland in New Delhi on Thursday (5 March), with both leaders agreeing to deepen cooperation in digitalisation, sustainability, clean energy and advanced technology.

Speaking after the meeting, Modi said the two countries aim to shape their relationship into a strategic partnership centred on digital transformation and sustainable development, expanding collaboration across emerging sectors.

The leaders also discussed broader India–Europe cooperation, including trade, global stability and technological partnerships.

Key developments:

• India and Finland agreed to expand cooperation in AI, 6G telecommunications, quantum computing and semiconductors.

• Both sides will deepen collaboration in defence, space and critical minerals supply chains.

• The India–European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed in early 2026 is expected to strengthen trade, investment and technology cooperation.

• The countries will also expand joint work in Arctic and polar research.
