US President Donald Trump has said American military strikes have severely degraded Iran’s military capability, claiming key infrastructure and weapons systems were destroyed during recent operations.

Speaking at a press conference in Florida, President Trump argued the action prevented Iran from expanding its influence across the Middle East and threatening Israel and other US allies in the region.

Trump said the strikes targeted weapons and military infrastructure he believes posed a regional threat. “They were going to take over the Middle East and they were going to try and destroy Israel,” he said.

He also warned that further action could follow if Tehran attempts to rebuild its military or pursue nuclear weapons.

Trump described the early phase of the conflict as a “tremendous success” but suggested the situation could evolve further depending on Iran’s actions.
