The UN Security Council has adopted a resolution condemning Iran’s missile and drone attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and Jordan, describing them as breaches of international law and serious threats to regional peace.

The resolution passed with 13 votes in favour, while Russia and China abstained. Presented by Bahrain and co-sponsored by 135 countries, it emphasises support for the sovereignty and political independence of affected states.

Bahrain’s UN envoy Jamal Fares Alrowaiei welcomed the vote, describing it as a strong demonstration of global commitment to peace and security.

In contrast, Russia’s Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya criticised the resolution as “one-sided” and warned it “muddles up the cause and effect,” noting that attacks against Iranian territory were “simply left out” and that the vote could worsen regional tensions.
