Middle East expert Dr. Kristian Ulrichsen discusses how Iran has continued launching missiles and drones despite weeks of sustained strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian military infrastructure.

Speaking with tut0ugh, Dr. Ulrichsen argues that Tehran has surprised Washington with the resilience of its drone and missile capabilities. “Iran has surprised the Trump administration by its ability to continue to launch missiles and drones even after two weeks of continuous US-Israeli targeting,” he explains.

Dr. Ulrichsen also highlights the political dynamics surrounding the war. While Donald Trump has suggested the United States could soon declare victory, the continued strikes raise questions about whether the conflict is truly nearing its end.

“We’re getting into a situation where neither party perhaps wants to be the one that backs away first,” he says, pointing to the strategic calculations facing Iran, Israel, and the United States.

The result, he argues, is a dangerous phase of the conflict in which escalation could continue even as leaders publicly signal a desire to bring the war to a close.
