Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has warned that any attempt by US forces to set foot on Iranian soil could become a “Vietnam-style quagmire.”

Speaking from Tehran, he called foreign intervention “rogue, reckless, and illegal” and reaffirmed that Iran is prepared to defend its territory.

Khatibzadeh stressed that while negotiations remain possible, the US and its allies must take the initiative. He criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of pushing the US into a war that serves Israel’s own agenda at the expense of others.

The conflict has already left nearly 1,500 Iranians dead, millions displaced, and around 1,000 non-Iranian casualties across the region, including 13 US soldiers and one French servicemember.
