Russia and Uzbekistan have signed a new roadmap on nuclear cooperation, deepening ties in nuclear energy and related fields.
The agreement was announced by Rosatom and Uzatom during ceremonies in Tashkent and at the project site. It outlines collaboration on workforce training, public engagement, and plans for a future “nuclear city”.
A supplementary deal confirms an integrated plant design using Generation III+ VVER-1000 reactors alongside RITM-200N units, expanding project capacity.
• The plant is expected to generate 15.4 billion kWh annually
• This would account for over 15% of Uzbekistan’s electricity demand
• Talks were reinforced in a call between President Vladimir Putin and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev
The project builds on a 2024 agreement and reflects deepening Russia–Uzbekistan energy ties amid broader geopolitical discussions.
