The UK and Türkiye have finalised a multi-billion-pound agreement to train Turkish Air Force pilots and ground crew, marking the next phase of the £8 billion ($10.73 billion) Typhoon fighter jet export deal agreed in October 2025.
Signed in London by Defence Secretary John Healey MP and Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler, the deal will see 10 Turkish pilots and nearly 100 technicians trained in the UK on flying and maintaining the aircraft, covering mechanical, avionics, weapons, and mission systems.
The agreement also secures long-term maintenance, production of aircraft components, and delivery of high-tech simulators and electronic warfare support, involving UK defence firms including BAE Systems, Leonardo UK, MBDA, Rolls Royce, and Martin Baker.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey said the agreement goes beyond exporting British-built jets, emphasising that it strengthens alliances, supports the UK economy, and enhances NATO’s collective security.
He described Türkiye’s acquisition of Typhoon as a vote of confidence in British industry and jobs, highlighting that Turkish pilots and engineers will train alongside RAF personnel, reinforcing both operational readiness and the UK-Türkiye defence partnership.
