Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi  has confirmed that Tehran is not currently negotiating with the US to end the ongoing war and “does not intend” to do so. His comments come amid claims by US President Donald Trump that talks remain “ongoing” and “productive,” with ideas reportedly shared via mediators.

Araghchi referenced earlier Iranian arguments in a five-point counter-proposal, without fully rejecting a reported US 15-point plan. The conflict began on 28 February 2026, following US and Israeli air strikes, after which Iran replied with strikes against American allies in the Gulf.

Key developments:

• The US plan reportedly demands Iran dismantle nuclear facilities, limit its missile programme, stop funding regional proxies, and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

• Iran seeks a complete halt to attacks on its territory and allies, compensation for war damages, and the right to control the Strait independently.

• Tehran also requests assurances against future military aggression, though monitoring and enforcement remain unclear.
