Ukraine–Qatar defence cooperation has been formalised following a visit by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Doha, as Kyiv expands security partnerships across the Gulf.

The agreement, confirmed by the Qatari defence ministry, focuses on military technology collaboration, joint investment, and expertise-sharing in counter-drone and missile defence systems. It follows similar arrangements with Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The move comes amid heightened regional tensions linked to the US–Israel conflict with Iran, with Gulf states facing drone threats. Ukraine, drawing on over four years of war with Russia, has positioned itself as a leader in anti-drone warfare capabilities.

• Ukraine reported 273 Russian drones launched overnight, with 252 intercepted or jammed, according to the air force.

• Odesa was heavily targeted, with critical port infrastructure damaged, Zelenskyy said.

• Kyiv denied Iranian claims of destroying Ukrainian systems in the UAE, calling them “disinformation operations.”
