China’s Vice President Han Zheng has called for expanded China–Seychelles strategic partnership and practical cooperation during an official visit marking 50 years of diplomatic ties.

Meeting President Patrick Herminie and Vice President Sebastien Pillay, Han conveyed greetings from President Xi Jinping and emphasised follow-through on agreements reached at the 2024 FOCAC Beijing Summit, where relations were elevated to a strategic partnership.

Han highlighted China’s upcoming zero-tariff policy for African countries from May 2026, urging Seychelles to maximise economic benefits and deepen trade cooperation.
