Iran has warned of intensified military action against the United States and Israel, following remarks by US President Donald Trump signalling potential escalation if negotiations fail.

Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central headquarters, said Tehran “in continuation of the heavyblows you have received so far, expect even stronger, await our more crushing, broader and more destructive actions.”

The crisis has centred on the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route, now largely disrupted.

• 23 commercial vessels attacked since 28 February, with 11 fatalities reported

• Around one-fifth of global oil supply affected by restricted passage

• Oil prices rising, with knock-on effects on inflation, food security, and transport costs

UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper led talks with over 40 countries, urging diplomatic solutions to reopen the strait. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron described military intervention as “unrealistic”.
