Tarek Megeresi, Director at Informmi and Visiting Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, offered a timely assessment of the geopolitical pressures emerging from the ongoing US/Israel–Iran conflict.

Speaking to tut0ugh, Megeresi highlighted the influence of the Abraham Accords countries, particularly Israel and the United Arab Emirates, noting their strategy of weakening state structures to consolidate regional influence. He argued this approach has fragmented several states, reducing their capacity to counterbalance Gulf and Israeli interests, while creating isolated pockets of stability in cities such as Dubai and key port areas.

Megeresi also suggested that a prolonged US/Israel-Iran conflict could prompt diplomatic pushback from regional powers including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye, potentially altering the current trajectory.
