Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon have intensified, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reporting strikes on around 200 Hezbollah targets in the past 24 hours, including infrastructure and rocket launchers. The military said the actions are intended to limit attacks on Israeli civilians and support ongoing ground operations.

Lebanese authorities report at least 357 deaths and 1,223 injuries following recent air strikes, with recovery efforts continuing amid widespread destruction. President Joseph Aoun also confirmed casualties among state security personnel and civilians.

Diplomatic engagement is developing, as Israeli and Lebanese representatives are set to meet in Washington on Tuesday (14 April) to discuss ceasefire conditions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has authorised direct talks but reiterated that Israel will not negotiate a ceasefire with Hezbollah.

Humanitarian agencies warn of a deepening crisis, with more than one million displaced and increasing pressure on food supply systems.
