A protest demanding stricter immigration policies in The Hague’s Malieveld on 20 September escalated, with clashes between demonstrators and police.

Authorities used tear gas and water cannons after objects were thrown and vehicles damaged. Officials, including Justice Minister Foort van Oosten and politicians across the spectrum, condemned the violence.
