US President Donald Trump delivered a national address on Wednesday (1 April), detailing the progress of Operation Epic Fury against Iran. He highlighted the recent successes of US forces, noting that Iran’s navy and air force have been largely neutralised, missile capabilities degraded, and key military infrastructure destroyed.

Trump emphasised that the United States remains independent of Middle Eastern oil and called on countries reliant on the Strait of Hormuz to assume responsibility for regional energy security.

Trump outlined the rationale for the operation, citing Iran’s historical hostility, nuclear ambitions, and prior attacks on US forces and allies. He also referenced prior actions taken during his terms, including the elimination of General Qassem Soleimani and the termination of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

In his address, Trump framed the campaign as a measure to protect global security, reiterating that US objectives are near completion and projecting the eventual reopening of the strait and stabilisation of global oil markets. He praised the sacrifices of American service members and pledged to maintain pressure until goals are fully achieved.
