Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced expanded security cooperation between Ukraine and Türkiye following talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul, as Kyiv seeks to leverage wartime expertise internationally.

Writing on Telegram, President Zelenskyy confirmed both sides had agreed on “new steps” in defence collaboration, focusing on sharing technology, operational experience, and security expertise. Technical teams are expected to finalise details in the coming weeks.

The leaders also discussed joint gas infrastructure projects and potential cooperation on energy development, reflecting broader strategic alignment.

• Türkiye reaffirmed support for Ukraine–Russia peace negotiations, positioning itself as a mediator.

• Ankara emphasised Black Sea maritime security following recent drone-related incidents near the Bosphorus Strait.

• Both sides explored energy security cooperation, including gas field development.

• Ukraine continues expanding security agreements with Middle Eastern states, citing counter-drone expertise.

The meeting underscores Türkiye’s dual role within NATO and its ongoing diplomatic engagement with both Kyiv and Moscow.
