Sri Lanka and the Maldives signed seven memoranda of understanding during Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu’s state visit to Colombo, strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

The agreements, announced by Sri Lanka’s President’s Media Division (PMD), cover tourism, education, higher education, health, sports, youth development, archives and defence cooperation.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held bilateral talks with Muizzu and thanked the Maldives for humanitarian assistance provided during Sri Lanka’s recent disaster period. Both leaders also highlighted climate change as a shared regional challenge.
