Armenia and the United States signed a new strategic partnership agreement in Yerevan on Tuesday (26 May), as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan ahead of Armenia’s June 7 parliamentary election.
The agreements include cooperation on critical minerals, economic development and the proposed Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) transit corridor linking Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan through southern Armenia.
The visit comes amid growing tensions between Armenia and Russia, as Yerevan strengthens ties with Western partners and pursues closer engagement with the European Union.
