India and the United Kingdom have highlighted growing cooperation across trade, defence, technology and supply chains following talks between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.

The discussions focused on implementing the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), strengthening strategic ties and advancing long-term cooperation under India-UK Vision 2035.

Key developments:

  • India and the UK reaffirmed support for the newly concluded CETA trade agreement.
  • A memorandum of understanding was signed to establish a Regional Maritime Security Centre of Excellence for the Indian Ocean region.
  • Both countries launched the Critical Minerals Global Supply Chain Observatory (GSCO) to support resilient and secure supply chains.
  • Cooperation was discussed in areas including clean energy, artificial intelligence, defence, education and critical minerals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Yvette Cooper also discussed opportunities to deepen bilateral relations and support future economic growth, innovation and global cooperation.
