South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Kenyan President William Ruto have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation, regional integration and continental development following President Ruto’s State Visit to Pretoria.

The leaders held bilateral talks and oversaw the signing of six Memoranda of Understanding aimed at expanding collaboration across key sectors. President Ramaphosa said the visit further strengthened longstanding ties between the two countries and supported Africa’s broader development goals.

Key developments:

  • Six agreements signed covering agriculture, tourism, ICT, energy, transport and maritime cooperation.
  • South Africa and Kenya pledged to expand trade and investment under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
  • Both countries highlighted opportunities in renewable energy, digital trade, artificial intelligence and infrastructure development.
  • Leaders reaffirmed support for regional integration, peace, multilateralism and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The two countries also welcomed growing business links, visa-free travel arrangements and increased cooperation in aviation, trade and regional value chains.
