US President Donald Trump has said a proposed agreement between the United States and Iran has been approved by “all parties involved”, raising expectations that a formal signing could take place in the coming days. Trump also announced that planned US military strikes against Iran had been cancelled as negotiations progressed.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said, “It’ll be soon. Maybe this weekend,” when asked about a potential signing. He added that he believed Iran’s leadership had approved the arrangement and described it as “a very strong memorandum of understanding.”

Trump said the agreement would ensure Iran “will not have a nuclear weapon” and confirmed that lifting the US blockade on Iranian ports would form part of the deal. He also stated that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen following implementation of the agreement.

The apparent breakthrough follows months of conflict, recent exchanges of fire, and intensive mediation efforts involving Qatar and other regional partners. However, Iranian officials have yet to formally confirm that a final agreement has been reached, with reports indicating negotiations remain ongoing despite significant progress.
