US President Donald Trump delivered remarks at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota during celebrations for the 250th anniversary of US independence on 3 July 2026, framing the United States as a global benchmark of constitutional democracy and national strength.
He described the US as “the oldest republic on earth”, “the freest people on earth”, and “the most successful, most accomplished, most exceptional nation ever to exist in human history”. He also told attendees it was “an honour to be your president” as he reflected on the country’s historical trajectory and future direction.
Trump warned of what he called a renewed ideological threat, stating there is “a resurgence of the communist menace” and describing communism as “a mortal threat to American liberty”. He added, “we cannot be beaten”, and said the milestone marked “not an ending… only the beginning of the golden age of America”.
The address came as the United States marked 250 years since independence, a major national milestone being commemorated across the country through official ceremonies, cultural events, and political reflections on America’s founding and future direction.
