A flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia on Wednesday (30 Sep), after a violent incident in the cockpit prompted a rapid descent and emergency signals.

The co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain during the flight before being restrained by passengers and crew. The captain, Smit Machchhar, was injured in the incident and later taken to hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition. flydubai confirmed the aircraft landed safely and said investigations into the incident are continuing, while the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is leading the inquiry.

Authorities have not confirmed a motive, and Netanyahu said it is too early to determine who was behind the attack. Following the incident, flydubai temporarily suspended flights to and from Israel, while Israeli authorities announced enhanced security measures for flights serving the country.
