Following a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, US President Donald Trump sat down with 60 Minutes, stating that “they go after consequential presidents… presidents that do things,” as he addressed a series of alleged assassination attempts and framed his leadership as a driving factor behind heightened security threats.

Responding to claims cited from a suspect’s manifesto, Trump rejected the allegations, stating “I’m not a rapist… I didn’t rape anybody,” and criticised the interview, calling the material “from some sick person” and the line of questioning “a disgrace.”

Authorities say a suspect breached security, fired shots, and was quickly subdued. No fatalities were reported, and officials are continuing to assess security protocols and the attacker’s motives.

Beyond the incident, the interview ranged across US domestic policy, political divisions, media relations, and global security, with Trump defending his record on border control, economic performance, and foreign policy, including Iran.
