Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved a 40-day operation led by the State Security Service (SBU) aimed at increasing pressure on Russia to end its war against Ukraine.
“I approved a 40-day operation by the Service to influence the aggressor state in order to press for an end to the war,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram following a briefing from SBU Chief Major General Yevhenii Khmara. He did not disclose further operational details.
Key developments:
- Zelenskyy said the SBU has expanded its use of drones against Russian military personnel and equipment.
- Ukraine says recent strikes have disrupted logistics, energy infrastructure and air defence deployments in Russian-controlled areas.
- Kyiv also warned that military infrastructure being developed along the Belarus-Ukraine border appears intended for military purposes.
- Belarus has not announced plans to enter the conflict, while Ukraine says it continues to monitor developments closely.
The announcement follows weeks of Ukrainian strikes targeting military and logistical infrastructure in Russian-occupied Crimea and inside Russia, as Kyiv continues efforts to weaken Russian supply networks while raising concerns over Belarus’ growing military cooperation with Moscow.
