US President Donald Trump has said the proposed US-Saudi civil nuclear agreement remains conditional on Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords, outlining the administration’s position in a post on Truth Social.
Trump wrote that the agreement “will be approved, but is totally subject to Saudi Arabia joining the very respected and successful Abraham Accords.” He also stressed that there “will be no enrichment of material” and described the arrangement as applying “only to non-military use”, adding that the United States is “not opposed to Civil (Non-Enriched) Nuclear Facilities.”
The comments follow the signing of a 123 civil nuclear cooperation agreement by US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and Saudi Minister of Energy His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman. The agreement establishes a framework for peaceful nuclear cooperation and is expected to be submitted to the US Congress for review.
