US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius signed a new agreement at the Pentagon to expand US-Germany defence industrial cooperation, aligning American acquisition reforms with Germany’s Procurement Acceleration Act.
The agreement aims to accelerate joint development, production, licensed manufacturing and sustainment of military equipment while supporting wider NATO capability goals and transatlantic defence readiness.
- Germany said it has increased defence spending by 25% since last year, reaching around $147 billion.
- Both ministers emphasised expanding defence production and strengthening Europe’s role within NATO.
- Pistorius said Germany would continue investing in advanced capabilities, including space, deep-precision strike systems and the rollout of its first F-35A aircraft.
The meeting highlighted growing US-German defence cooperation as allies seek to increase industrial capacity, military readiness and collective deterrence across the NATO alliance.
