Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre have reaffirmed Canada and Norway’s strategic partnership following talks in Ottawa, expanding cooperation across Arctic security, NATO, defence, energy, artificial intelligence, space and critical minerals.
The leaders reiterated support for Ukraine, confirmed Canada’s participation in the German-Norwegian Type 212CD submarine programme, and said both countries intend to pursue an enhanced bilateral defence cooperation agreement following negotiations on Canada’s patrol submarine project.
