Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Gabala on Saturday (25 April) to advance Ukraine–Azerbaijan relations, with discussions centred on security cooperation, energy support, and economic ties.
Six bilateral agreements were signed, covering defence-industrial collaboration, trade, and technical cooperation.
At a joint press conference, Zelensky highlighted plans for co-production in defence industries, following Kyiv’s deployment of military specialists to Azerbaijan.
He also acknowledged Baku’s ongoing humanitarian and energy assistance, including 11 support packages since the start of the full-scale war.
Addressing prospects for diplomacy, Zelenskyy said Ukraine is prepared for trilateral talks with Russia and the United States in Azerbaijan, “if Russia is ready for diplomacy,” signalling Kyiv’s conditional openness to renewed negotiations amid ongoing conflict.
