Morocco has inaugurated the Mohammed VI Tower, a landmark skyscraper in Salé near Rabat, signalling the country’s growing economic and geopolitical ambitions.

Rising 820 feet with 55 storeys, the $700 million development includes a luxury hotel, offices, retail space, and high-end residences. Leila Haddaoui, Director at O Tower, said the project is expected to generate significant employment and boost the capital region’s international profile.

Positioned near the Grand Theatre of Rabat, the tower forms part of Morocco’s broader tourism strategy as it prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, aiming to attract global visitors and investment.

  • 450 direct jobs and 3,500 indirect roles expected
  • Built over eight years with 2,500+ workers
  • Developed under the vision of Othmane Benjelloun, owner of Bank of Africa
  • Covers over 102,800 square metres of mixed-use space

While officials highlight economic growth and soft power gains, critics point to regional inequality and ongoing concerns over unemployment and public services.
