Prime Minister Philip Davis and the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) have been re-elected in the Bahamas, marking the first time in nearly 30 years a leader has secured a consecutive term. Davis called the result a “mandate” to address security, economic pressure and development across the islands.

The snap election, called ahead of the Atlantic hurricane season, was shaped by affordability concerns, including housing shortages and stagnant wages, alongside debate over tax relief measures.

  • PLP projected to win over 30 of 41 parliamentary seats
  • Free National Movement (FNM) on track for around 8 seats; senior leaders defeated
  • Former NBA player Rick Fox lost Garden Hills to Mario Bowleg
  • Ex-PM Hubert Minnis failed independent bid; Chester Cooper re-elected

Housing and cost-of-living pressures remain central political issues following the vote.
