Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have signed memorandums of understanding to expand railway connectivity and logistics cooperation, including plans to restore and modernise the historic Hejaz Railway route through Syria and Jordan.

Turkish Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu travelled to Riyadh for the signing, describing the talks as part of efforts to deepen Türkiye–Saudi Arabia cooperation in logistics and rail infrastructure.

Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh al-Jasser said joint studies on the project are expected to be completed by the end of the year, with the aim of strengthening regional trade and transport integration.

The initiative is framed as part of wider efforts to develop alternative overland trade corridors amid regional shipping disruptions, including those affecting the Strait of Hormuz.
