The United States has expanded its Pax Silica initiative, with the European Union, Netherlands, Germany and Greece joining the US-led partnership aimed at strengthening AI supply chains and technology cooperation. 

Additional members, including Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Kazakhstan and Panama, are expected to join this week, bringing participation to 24 countries.

US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg said the initiative seeks to support AI innovation, trusted technology partnerships and resilient supply chains.

  • Pax Silica focuses on AI, semiconductors, critical minerals and energy security.
  • More than 20 countries are expected to sign a joint statement on trusted AI cooperation.
  • The US also announced plans for an economic security zone with Kazakhstan and a manufacturing education partnership with Stanford University.
